A tourist invitation should be the calmest document in the application: the right person, travelling on the right dates, for a believable tourist trip, supported by an identifiable authorised organisation. No drama. No invented hotel romance. No promise that a PDF can make a government decision.
First: make sure a tourist invitation is your route
This service is designed for travellers who need a regular Russian tourist visa and whose application requires tourist confirmation or visa support.
There is an official alternative for a limited citizenship list: where Government list 372-r applies, a qualifying confirmation from accommodation in Russia’s classification register may support the tourist-visa file instead. That route should be checked before an invitation is sold.
Do not order it yet if:
- your citizenship and trip may fit the unified e‑visa;
- a visa-free arrangement may apply;
- your main purpose is employment, long-term study, journalism, residence or another non-tourist activity;
- you need a category-specific business, private or humanitarian invitation;
- you have not confirmed where the visa application will be submitted.

What the tourist support contains
The exact layout can vary, but tourist visa support commonly includes information described as a tourist confirmation and tourist voucher. It connects:
- the traveller’s passport-identical name and identifying details;
- intended entry and exit dates;
- the number of entries requested where applicable;
- planned Russian destinations or itinerary;
- tourism as the stated purpose;
- the authorised host organisation and its identifying details;
- a document number and issue information.
The final document is supplied for use in the regular visa application. It is not the visa, insurance, transport ticket or proof that accommodation has been paid.

Provide only the facts needed to assess and prepare the route:
- Citizenship and the passport you will use.

The independent-travel question
Many travellers are not joining a packaged tour. They may stay in an apartment, move between hotels, visit friends for part of the trip or decide the exact museum schedule after breakfast. That does not turn a holiday into a fictional category.
On the invitation route, tourist support and accommodation booking are different records. On the separate 372-r route, a specifically qualifying classified-accommodation confirmation can itself be the accepted tourist evidence. In both cases, the file must accurately answer its accommodation and itinerary questions.
Independent travel still needs a coherent story; it does not need an invented one.
If your consulate asks for confirmed accommodation in addition to tourist support, the invitation does not cancel that local document requirement. Follow the checklist for the place handling your application.
Choosing dates without creating a trap
The invitation should cover the intended trip. Give dates that reflect the real plan and reasonable transport timing. Do not deliberately ask for a long fictional window merely because it seems more flexible.
Consider:
- overnight flights and the calendar date of border crossing;
- arrival after midnight;
- side trips that leave Russia and require another entry;
- the passport’s remaining validity;
- the consulate’s processing time before travel;
- insurance coverage for the relevant period.
The visa authority decides the final validity and entries. Requested dates are a request, not a guarantee.
One entry or two?
A single-entry trip enters Russia once and leaves once. A route such as London–Moscow–Tbilisi–St Petersburg–London enters Russia twice, even if the holiday feels like one journey.
Tell us about every border crossing. If you need repeated entries or a longer pattern, a tourist route may or may not be appropriate; the application location and supporting rules need to be checked before issuance.

- Check the issued visa against the passport and itinerary as soon as it is returned.
The invitation service does not shorten or control consular processing. Treat an advertised document turnaround and a visa processing time as two separate clocks.
Corrections
If the error came from information you supplied incorrectly, reissuance may involve a fee. If the issued document does not match the data you correctly approved, the service should correct it under the written correction policy.
In either case, stop before submission. Send:
- the document number;
- the incorrect field;
- the correct value as shown in the passport or approved order;
- the application deadline, if one exists.
