A digital visa route
Applied for on the official MFA portal without an invitation. It is limited by citizenship, purpose, one entry, permitted stay and approved checkpoints.

Names follow the passport. Dates follow the actual trip. Cities and accommodation form a coherent itinerary. The best document is not “flexible”; it is accurate.

For an invitation, the authorised host issues the appropriate support. For an e‑visa, the application remains on the official MFA portal; assistance means preparation and checking, not private visa issuance.

Recheck the application-post list, insurance, passport validity and entry point. For visa-free travel, also check whether the ruID advance declaration applies.

Questions people ask before they commit
Do I need an invitation if I can use the Russian e-visa?
No. The official unified e-visa instructions say an invitation, hotel confirmation and similar proof of purpose are not required. You still need to meet the e-visa rules, use an approved checkpoint and carry required insurance.
Is a Russian visa invitation the same thing as a visa?
No. An invitation is supporting evidence for certain regular visa applications. The consulate or visa authority decides the visa application; border authorities decide entry.
Can I get a tourist invitation without booking one hotel for the whole trip?
On the usual invitation route, they are different documents. Citizens covered by Government list 372-r may instead use qualifying confirmation from classified accommodation; an ordinary booking receipt is not automatically sufficient.
Does visa-free entry require ruID?
Many visa-free entrants fall within an experimental advance-declaration process, normally 72 hours before entry. Check current scope, exceptions and emergency timing on the official Gosuslugi page.
