Russia visa for Senegalese citizens: invitation and application route

Current official information identifies exemptions for Senegalese diplomatic and service passports, not ordinary passports. Tourism should begin with a regular visa and post-specific checklist.

Documents to prepare for Senegal

This is the central official baseline for the route shown here. The responsible post depends mainly on filing location and lawful residence, not passport nationality alone.

  1. 01

    A passport with, as a general rule, two blank pages and the required validity beyond the visa end date.

  2. 02

    The official online application form, printed and signed.

  3. 03

    A 35 × 45 mm photograph; confirm the number, age and exact format with the local post.

  4. 04

    For tourism, confirmation/voucher from a registered operator or another officially accepted route for that application.

  5. 05

    Insurance, fee, appointment, lawful-residence evidence and any local additions.

Check the local list before paying and again before the appointment: photograph, insurance, filing method, fee and originals can vary. An invitation is not a visa or a decision guarantee.

For a Senegalese ordinary passport, the road to Russia currently passes through a regular visa application. Senegal is not listed for the unified e‑visa. The official table’s stated visa exemption concerns diplomatic and service passports, not an ordinary holiday document.

The useful sequence

For tourism:

  1. Identify the Russian post authorised to receive the file.
  2. Check its live list of requirements.
  3. Obtain the tourist confirmation and voucher or other support it names.
  4. Complete the official application using the issuer details.
  5. Submit the rest of the file under local instructions.

This order prevents the common problem of inventing host details and having to rebuild the form later.

Dakar or the diaspora

A Senegalese citizen living in Dakar checks the mission serving Senegal. A Senegalese citizen resident in Paris, Brussels, Montreal or another city has to establish filing jurisdiction there.

Residence does not change Senegalese e‑visa eligibility. It can change:

  • where the application is accepted;
  • required residence-permit validity;
  • appointment logistics;
  • language and format of supporting documents;
  • passport-return arrangements.

Invitation quality is not decoration

The document should identify an appropriate issuer and match the passport, dates, cities and entries. A real confirmation number matters more than a gold “official” badge placed beside the checkout button.

Ask who issues the support, through which route and what happens if the consular post rejects its format before the application is even considered.

Purpose and time

Tourism, business meetings, study and employment use different routes. An invitation can be fast to produce while the visa process still takes its own time. Leave margin for a correction, appointment and possible additional question.

The Senegalese ordinary-passport answer

Expect a regular visa. Confirm the receiving post, then obtain the support appropriate to the actual purpose. If resident abroad, settle the jurisdiction issue first. If holding a special passport, obtain advice for that exact document rather than borrowing the ordinary-passport conclusion.

Questions people ask before they commit

Is Russia's unified e-visa available to Senegalese citizens?

Senegal is not on the current e-visa citizenship list. An ordinary Senegalese passport normally follows a regular visa route.

Do Senegalese diplomatic passports follow the same rule?

No. The current MFA table identifies an exemption for diplomatic and service passports. Ordinary-passport travellers should not rely on that exemption.

What comes first: invitation or visa form?

Usually confirm and obtain the accepted invitation first, because its host and reference information is needed for the official regular visa form.
