The Democratic Republic of the Congo is not the Republic of the Congo, and a country dropdown that shortens both to “Congo” can begin an application with the wrong nationality. This page concerns an ordinary DR Congo passport. It is not currently on Russia’s unified e‑visa list, so tourism normally follows a regular visa route.
The first two checks
Confirm the exact nationality printed in the passport, then confirm the application post. A Congolese citizen resident in France, Belgium or another country may need to prove lawful long-term residence before the local Russian post accepts the file.
Do not order support until the post and category are known.
Tourist support and the form
For a genuine holiday, the responsible post can require tourist confirmation and voucher or another accepted form of support. The issuer details feed directly into the official visa application.
Compare:
- Latin spelling of every name;
- passport number;
- birth date where used;
- entry and exit dates;
- cities;
- number of entries;
- issuer and reference details.
A correction before submission is ordinary administration. Silence about a mismatch is a choice to let the consular officer discover it.
Choose the category from the activity
Tourism, meetings, employment, study and a private visit do not share one invitation. The Russian host organisation, employer or university often determines the appropriate formal route for non-tourist purposes.
Timing
Add invitation preparation, appointment, consular processing and passport return as separate periods. Where an original document or additional review is required, include delivery time and margin.
The DR Congo answer
Expect a regular visa for an ordinary passport. Resolve country identity, application jurisdiction and invitation format in that order. A French-language interface can remove confusion; only the exact passport can remove ambiguity about citizenship.
