Tunisia and Russia may fit easily on a flight search. They do not currently meet inside the unified e‑visa list. An ordinary Tunisian passport should therefore begin with the regular visa route for tourism, while special-passport or official travel should be checked separately.
Before the invitation
The receiving Russian mission matters. A Tunis resident, a Tunisian student in Lyon and a Tunisian professional in Dubai all keep the same passport nationality, but they may not submit at the same post or with the same residence evidence.
Confirm the desk before ordering the document. Then confirm:
- tourist, business, private or another category;
- one or two entries;
- exact Russian dates;
- cities and accommodation plan;
- electronic versus original support;
- local appointment and insurance rules.
Tourist support in plain language
For a regular tourist visa, “invitation” commonly means tourist confirmation and voucher issued through an authorised Russian organisation. It is not a personal letter saying “please let my friend enter,” and it is not the visa itself.
The host name, reference and confirmation details from that support are used in the official application. Copy them; do not translate them into what seems more logical.
Residence in France
A French residence permit can be important evidence for filing in France. It does not make a Tunisian passport French. If the traveller has dual nationality and will use a French passport, that changes the calculation and requires consistent use of that passport.
For a Tunisian-only passport, expect the regular route and ask the French Russian-visa service what minimum residence validity and additional documents apply.
An itinerary test
Write the trip in one line: “Twelve days, tourism, Tunis–Moscow–St Petersburg–Tunis, one entry.” If the documents tell that same story, the core is coherent.
If the line instead reads “three months installing equipment for a client,” tourist support is wrong even if weekends include sightseeing.
Timing
Allow separate time for issuing support, booking an appointment, consular consideration and passport return. A “same-day invitation” advertises only one of those clocks. It does not make the authority’s clock disappear.
The Tunisian answer
An ordinary Tunisian tourist currently plans for a regular visa and the support accepted by the application post. Residence abroad adds a filing-jurisdiction check. Work, study and substantive business activity need their own honest category.
